Hi! I'm Michael Villani. I have always been drawn to filmmaking and production ever since I was young. I was always the kid who would watch the behind-the-scenes features on the DVD just to figure out how everything was made. I nurtured this passion in high school when I took a video production class. It was there that I was taught that as a filmmaker, I have control over every pixel on the screen and that I needed to utilize each and every one if I wanted to create a compelling story. This is how I got involved in post-production.
The beauty to post-production is that it is the pinnacle of troubleshooting and resourcefulness. There is no such thing as the "perfect" project and any editor will agree. Things get lost in translation in production and it's up to the editor to fix it in post. In this day and age, being a good editor is not enough, though.
My experience in post-production is not limited to just editing. I have worked on many projects as the director, the motion graphics artist, the colorist, the editor, and everything in between. This understanding of all the facets of post-production is what gives me an edge. Recently, I've moved into more of a training/mentoring aspect of my career so I can pass my insight to others and help them grow.
